Bicycle Accidents

Boyd Buckingham is an avid bicyclist, riding between 100 and 250 miles per week.  He often cycles to work and is dedicated to helping seriously injured cyclists recover the maximum amount of damages for their personal injuries.

With his vast knowledge of the cycling industry, Boyd Buckingham is aware of the heightened risks and dangers that cyclists face on roads and in intersections.

With higher gas prices, bicycle riding is an increasingly popular form of transportation in the Northwest.  Seattle is more and more becoming a bicyclist’s world.  Local police departments use bicycles frequently in congested areas where it takes less time to get to a destination on a bicycle than in a car. Unfortunately, with more bicyclists on the road, there are also many more bicycle accidents.

Hundreds of bicyclists die in cycling accidents each year, usually because a careless motorist does not see them. About half of all bicycle accidents involve minor children. Bicyclists are frequently involved in truck accidents, automobile accidents, motorcycle accidents, pedestrian accidents and collisions with stationary objects such as trees, parked cars or traffic lights. For information on preventing bicycle accidents, visit our bicycle safety tips page.

If you have been injured or lost a loved one in a bicycle accident that was somebody else’s fault, you may be able to recover damages from the party responsible for your injuries. Liable parties may include:

  • Careless or reckless drivers of cars or trucks
  • Negligent manufacturers of the bicycle, bicycle parts, or bicycle  accessories
  • Negligent service repair shops
  • State, county or city agencies responsible for road design, road sign placement and maintenance and upkeep

Bicycle accidents frequently happen at intersection locations or when a speeding driver is unable to judge the speed at which a bicycle is traveling.  If you are hit, know what to do after an accident and seek medical attention immediately, even if you think you are probably okay.

Boyd Buckingham can explain to you your legal options for recovery following a bicycle accident resulting in serious injuries or wrongful death.
