Child Support Modification and Adjustment

In 1988, Washington State adopted a new child support law based on a formula, which includes the incomes of the parents and the number and ages of the children.  That law has been in effect for over twenty years and a new version of that law will take effect on October 1, 2009.  Whether you are paying or receiving child support, the new law will cause substantial changes, including increases in amounts.

The law in Washington State allows child support to be adjusted every two years on anytime that a parent’s income has changed substantially, or upon the enactment the new law.  Contact us to review your child support situation and make sure you are paying or receiving what the law allows.
